Had 40 minutes to spare and chose the challenge of this pretty Pomeranian from a photo ref on WetCanvas.

Sometimes when we least expect it things turn out much better than planned and every now and then it turns out worse.  Such is life.  Pick yourself up, dust yourself down and start all over again.  At least the little pooch brought a smile.

Managed to get time during my lunch break to produce this little quickie in watercolour pencil.

Sunflowers in Ink and Wash

The best part of the week I bought two bunches of sunflowers on special offer and took one to the office and one home, so I am surrounded by sunshine!

I am still hooked on the sunflowers and am busy on another large oil painting, but I had time to do a quick study in my favourite medium.

Really lifted my spirits.

It was so relaxing drawing this. Didn't get it finished as a phone call interrupted me, but it was great while it lasted.

He is one of my favourite models, he has such a way of slouching when he sits and dangling one leg, it always makes me smile.

Wise Owl

Wisdom comes with age or so they say. In my experience, it arrives sooner for some whilst others never quite get there.

This little guy is a paperweight and sits on my desk at work. I really enjoy using ink and watercolour, real fun stuff.

Irresistible Inks

Just playing around with the inks - no preliminary drawing as this was not a serious study, just went straight in wet-in-wet building up layers as it dried.

I really enjoy using inks, but in the past have mostly used just one colour (primarily black). This was interesting, using several different colours.

Most people adore flowers, but I particularly love roses. They are such beautiful flowers, don't you think?

Waiting for the Call

Today is a good day.

The engineer came to set up a new phone in my office. Lots of buttons and lights and I can see when anyone in the building is engaged... how lovely!

Now I just have to learn to use it

Dead Roses

Wake up and smell the roses. Even as they die they still retain their beauty. The subdued colours and burnt edges add character and attract my artist's eye.

Even as she dies she presents a vision of beauty and only one part of the plant perishes... soon another sweet fragranced head will awaken to brighten our tomorrow.
